1. SURVEY THE CHAPTER
Look over all the major headings and sub headings
Note all pictures, maps, charts, tables, graphs, etc…
Read the Summary at the end of the chapter
Read the study questions listed at the end of the chapter
2. MAKE QUESTIONS OUT OF MAJOR HEADINGS
Reword all main headings into study questions to be answered
3. READ THE CHAPTER AND TAKE NOTES
Answer all the questions you made from the main headings
Take notes on a separate piece of paper
List important events, concepts, and/or facts in order
Make small index cards of important terms, people and events
4. REVIEW THE CHAPTER
Make sure you understand all the main points and how they relate to one another
Answer all the study questions at the end of the chapter
Review notes to make sure all key points have been covered
5. REVIEW NOTES FROM CLASS
Compare the notes you took in class with the notes you took while reading your book
Add points as necessary to your notes in the textbook |
